What does a tech job at Texas’ favorite grocery store look like? We went behind-the-scenes with three H-E-B employees to see how they spend their days.

Where are you from?
I am originally from Memphis, TN. I moved to Texas for college in 2009 and have been with H-E-B since 2013.
How did you end up as a Software Engineer at H-E-B? Did you study this field in school?
I’ve been a Software Engineer my whole career—H-E-B was my first job out of college. I studied Computer Science and Urban Studies. When I graduated, I felt I had to make a choice between pursuing education policy (my Urban Studies focus) or working as an engineer. Ultimately, I chose engineering as an investment in my future. I felt the technical skills I would learn could follow me no matter what industry I ended up in. I’m happy I made that choice, because H-E-B is not only good to me but so good to the entire Texas community. I’m proud to be part of that.
